SANTA’S GOT MOVES

Santa’s so happy Christmas is coming that he’s dancing. Pipe cleaners give our Santa moves to envy. Finish only one side of Santa and hang on the wall or bulletin board, or finish both sides and add a string for hanging. Younger kids can probably do this, but proper cutting is important. The directions for this project, “Dancing Santa,”  can be found in the 5th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

STAR POEM

Happy star faces surround the framed poem about a star announcing the Baby on Christmas day. It’s always fun to do a project with smiling faces—it puts you in a happy mood. The kids will understand that Jesus is the reason we’re celebrating Christmas. The younger kids could do this, but I chose the 4th grade because of the amount of cutting and the size of the stars. This project, “Star Attraction,” is found under the 4th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

LEAVES

Beautiful fall. If only fall lasted longer and winter was shorter! We used leaf stencils (the pattern included is Cricut friendly), colored chalk, oil pastels and glitter glue to make this autumn project. The directions and patterns for this project, “Fall Leaves,” can be found in the 5th Grade Projects Gallery  in the sidebar.

BUNNY HOP

This cute little Hanging Bunny will get lots of attention, especially if he has lots of other bunnies hanging around too. There are patterns to make this an easy project, the only thing you might not have on hand is the pink cotton ball. The list of supplies and directions for this “Hanging Bunny” is in the Easter Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

PAPER MACHE RABBIT

This paper mache bunny makes a very cute Easter decoration. But if you are a collector of rabbits, it is nice year round also. We did this a couple of years with the 6th graders, but it really is a bit involved for an elementary art class. It’s difficult to find a place to set them in the classroom because of the drying time needed. To make this project, “Paper Mache Bunny,” go under the Easter Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

HOPPY EASTER

I call this a poster because the background of this project is a 12″ X 18″ piece of construction paper. It does take more than an hour to finish and the project could be done in two sessions instead of one. Use two 9″ x 12″ sheets of paper, and then when both are finished, tape them together. It’s almost two projects in one because either the tree side or the bunny side could be done alone. Directions for this project, “Hoppy Easter Poster,” can be found in the 4th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

LUNCH BAG BUNNY BASKET

Here is an inexpensive Easter basket that the kids will love to make.  The brown lunch bag is the bunny body and the head, arms and feet are attached to finish this Easter basket. Stitches added to the head, arms, feet and carrot, give our bunny a country look. The carrot top has slits cut at the lines to give the carrot top a more realistic look. I fold the tops of the lunch bags before class to save time. It depends on which class is doing the project; the younger kids will have a hard time turning the tops down without tearing the bag. This project, “Stitches, the Bunny” Basket,” can be found in the Easter Projects Gallery in the sidebar, because any class would enjoy doing it.

HANGING CD BUNNY

A cute hanging bunny made from CD discs, chenille strips, google eyes and pom-poms. What could be simpler and also a way to use old CD discs. These go together quickly and because the eyes, mouth and whiskers are put on by the kids, the resulting bunnies will have different appearances. I used pink pom-poms, but I think other pastel colors would be cute too. Any class can make these bunnies, so you’ll find the directions for “CD Bunny,” in the Easter Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
