BETHLEHEM’S STARRY NIGHT

We’re all aware of the Van Gogh painting “Starry Night.”  With this project we hope to imagine the starry night being a special one in Bethlehem the night Jesus was born. Therefore this project is called “Starry Night in Bethlehem.” Find the directions for this project,  in the 3rd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

PAPER TOWEL TUBE ANGEL

This 16″ angel would look great standing tall and stately on the mantel. There are all sorts of opportunities to change the looks of the angel. Draw a singing mouth,  put a print in the bodice, have colored wings, a plain skirt with beads added, or maybe add feathers. The possibilities are endless. Directions for this project, “Tube Angel,” can be found in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

MARY AND JESUS

This is a new project that the 4th Grade did this week. Christmas card pictures of Mary and Jesus were selected to be a guide for our oil pastel art. Students lightly drew an outline with pencil before starting with the oil pastels. Student art is featured in this post. “Portrait of Mary and Jesus,” is in the 4th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

FROSTY SNOWMAN

Do you still have extra wire coat hangers laying around? Make a snowman! This is easy enough to make a whole classroom full of snowmen.  Different colors of scarves and chenille strips will give lots of variety. “Frosty, The Snowman,” supplies list and directions can be found in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

NATIVITY FOR GRADE 3

This is a “Pop-Up Nativity Scene” for the 3rd Grade to make so they can have a nativity scene of their own. The figures are a copy right item, so I’ve included the website address of where I ordered it. After you pay for the stamps you get easy download instructions. This website has loads of cute stamps to order and they are very, very reasonably price. Check it out by clicking on the web address included in this project. Supplies and directions for this “Pop-Up Nativity Scene” is in the 3rd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

NATIVITY

This project takes some time to finish, so you want to figure about three hours to complete it.  There are patterns for the stable and the figures. Supplies needed include two 22″x 28 brown poster boards for the stable, white card stock for the figures, and crayons, colored pencils, or thin colored markers. This would be a nice family project that could become a family heirloom. This project, “Nativity Stable Scene,” is found in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

HOLY FAMILY CUBE

This little cube stable is just the right size for the 2″ Holy Family. I also used these Mo Manning digital stamps for the “Pop-up Nativity,” 3rd grade project.  The digital stamps are so convenient because you can size them to whatever size you need—no need to buy stamps of every size. They can be purchased at http://digitalpenciltoo.com/.  Mo gave me written permission to use the printed stamps for this project. The directions for this little “Nativity Cube,” can be found in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

PAPER MACHE SANTA

This is a paper mache project that we have done with the 6th grade classes. To make this santa you’ll need a plastic bottle that has shoulders on it (Dawn bottles used to be like this, but now we just look for bottles with “shoulders.” Also needed are newspaper strips, pipe cleaners and paper mache paste (recipe included.) Find the complete pictured tutorial for this “Old World Santa,” in the Christmas Projects Gallery, in the sidebar.
