WHITE TREES ON BLACK SCENE

Simple beauty. That describes this simple work of art. White paper folded and cut in the shape of trees, a star and subtle lines of iridescent glitter on a background of black. Unbelievably outstanding.

ANGEL SIGN WITH ANGELS

These little angels are cute in their colored dresses and feather wings, ribbon legs and button feet. I think they would be really cute using white for the dresses and feather wings, and twine for the legs. Brown or black buttons for the feet, gold buttons for the halos and tiny gold bows at the neck. But, that’s the fun of art and crafting – your imagination produces many unique results. It’s the experimenting that’s fun! Find the directions for this project, “Angels Among Us,” in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

TEA-DYE NO SEW SNOWMAN

Our little country style, tea-dyed snowman is a no sew project. He is made from an old, white, adult sized sport sock that has been tea dyed. A great way to use socks with no mates. A few of these would make a nice grouping for a centerpiece. An inexpensive exchange gift could be made by putting a snowman in a basket with a couple of bags of hot chocolate mix and a Christmas mug. Directions are under “No-Sew Snowman,” in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

ABSTRACT WINTER TREES

You can almost feel the cold when you look at these winter trees. We use permanent markers on tracing paper to make the trees. Colored tissue paper and iridescent glitter finish the look. This is an outstanding project and the use of different colors of tissue paper and colored markers give a variety of finished examples of art. “Abstract Christmas Trees,” is listed in the 6th Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

SNOWMAN STOCKING

A stocking and a stocking cap for this snowman. I’ve left the faces, stockings and caps blank to give the kids lots of ways to make their project unique. I love his tinsel arms. Finish only one side and hang it to the wall or bulletin board, or add a piece of cord to hang. I have this project, “Snowman Stuffed Stocking,” in the 3rd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar, but it’s a very easy project and I think any grade can do it.

1ST GRADE NATIVITY

This little stand up Nativity uses one sheet of card stock. I can’t give you a pattern for the figure illustrations because they are copyright, Mo Manning. I have included a blank pattern for the stand up which will help with placing the figures. I used the Nativity stamps from http://digitalpenciltoo.com/ and sized them to Joseph (6″ tall) and the shepherd (5 3/8″ tall.) These are the same digital stamps as used in the projects, “Pop-up Nativity” and “Nativity Cube”. This Nativity is called “Stand Up Nativity,” and can be found in the 1st Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

BURLAP BUDDIES ORNAMENTS

These aren’t difficult to make and would look really cute hanging on the Christmas tree. They would also be cute filler gifts because they aren’t expensive to make. I came up with three bunches of buddies: snowmen, angels and toy soldiers, but gingerbread folks and elves would be cute too. The directions and supply list for “Burlap Bag Ornaments,” can be found in the Christmas Projects Gallery in the sidebar.

HEAVEN’S ANGELS

We started this class with a quick lesson on drawing angels. A good site for a simple angel drawing lesson can be found at: http://www.hellokids.com Type in “how to draw an angel,” in the search bar.

This, “Heavenly Daze,” project can be found in the 2nd Grade Projects Gallery in the sidebar.
