“Stitches, the Bunny” Basket

Here is an inexpensive Easter basket that the kids will love to make. The brown lunch bag is the bunny body and the head, arms and feet are attached to finish this Easter basket. Stitches added to the head, arms, feet and carrot, give our bunny a country look. The carrot top has slits cut at the lines to give the carrot top a more realistic look. I fold the tops of the lunch bags before class to save time. It depends on which class is doing the project; the younger kids will have a hard time turning the tops down without tearing the bag.

Supplies:

  • White construction paper or cardstock
  • Brown or white lunch bag
  • Bunny head (Pattern)
  • Bunny arms, feet and carrot (Pattern)
  • Colored markers or crayons
  • Black Sharpie
  • Glue stick
  • Stapler
  • Easter grass
  • Plastic eggs or candy

Directions:

  1. Turn the top of the lunch bag down (about 2-2 ½”) three turns.
  2. Color the nose, ears, feet pads, and carrot. With the black Sharpie, make stitch marks around the head, ears, arms, feet and carrot.
  3. Spread glue on the back side of the bunny head (straight part only) and glue inside the prepared lunch bag.
  4. Overlap the two arm pieces and staple. Then staple the arms (with the thumbs up) to the back of the bunny body. Glue the carrot to one paw.
  5. Glue the feet to the front of the paper bag.
  6. Fill the basket with Easter grass and add eggs or candy.

So nice to hear that you enjoyed making the bunny baskets. I’m sure the kids will love them because Grandma made the baskets for them. Happy Easter, Susan, to you and your family!
