You can almost feel the cold when you look at these winter trees. We use permanent markers on tracing paper to make the trees. Colored tissue paper and iridescent glitter finish the look. The use of different colors of tissue paper and colored markers will give a variety of looks to the finished art.
Supplies:
- Heavy background paper (like poster or tag board)(9″ x 12″)
- Tracing paper
- Permanent markers
- Black Sharpie
- Colored tissue paper
- White glue, thinned with water, but not so much that it is watery.
- Paint brush
- Scissors
- Iridescent glitter
Directions:
- With the black Sharpie, draw three abstract trees on tracing paper. Draw in branches with the black Sharpie. Color in the trees with permanent markers. Tear strips containing the trees.
- Choose three colors of tissue paper and tear, so the three colors cover the width and length of the white poster or tag board.
- Slightly thin white glue with water and with a brush spread the glue over a third of the paper. Lay down the first color of tissue paper and brush down into the glue. Repeat with the other two colors of tissue paper. The tissue colors can overlap.
- Place one of the trees onto the first strip of color and glue down with a little added glue/water mixture. Repeat the process with the other trees.
- Trim the tissue from around the picture leaving about an inch of paper and turn that to the back of the picture.
- While still wet, sprinkle with iridescent glitter. Let air dry. The picture will be somewhat wrinkled when dry, but it seems to enhance the winter look.
