Perspective is the appearance to the eye of objects in respect to their relative distance and positions. This year we will be working with all our art classes to include perspective in our drawings. Perspective gives our drawings a 3-D (three dimensional) appearance. We will discuss what makes a picture look 3-D. The farther away something is, the smaller it appears and has less detail. It also appears nearer the top of the page. Imagine yourself standing on the side of a road, a car is coming toward you from a long distance away. As the car gets nearer, it looks bigger and more colorful. Closer objects will be larger, with more detail, and closer to the bottom of the page. The fifth grade used stencils to draw the shapes. They used crayons to color and shade. The pattern for the shapes is Cricut friendly. Use the program, Sure Cuts A Lot (Lot 2).
NOTE:
Sure Cuts A Lot 2, or the newest version 3, is not compatible with the newer Cricut machines. So if you want to use the Sure Cuts A Lot 1 or 2, or the version 3, which is the newest version, you will need a cutting machine which will use the SCAL software. Please check my home page for more info.
Supplies: 
- Shapes (Pattern)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Crayons
- Black Sharpie
Directions: You can make shape stencil from cardstock, using the pattern above.
l. Draw a large dot anywhere on your paper.
2. Draw five shapes, using stencils, on the paper.
3. Draw lines from the corners of the shapes to the dot.
4. Color the shape a dark shade of color.
5. Color inside the drawn lines with a lighter shade of the same color. Using the black crayon, shade to give the space between the lines depth and shape.
6. Outline and shapes and lines with black marker, being careful to stay on the lines. Use the stencil and ruler to be really neat.
